Top 40 Songs Kenya – 27th August 2019

Welcome back to the segment that reviews the top most popular songs in Kenya right now; This is the Top 40 Songs Kenya – 27th August 2019. The data is provided by Apple Music.  A couple of new tracks but the same old songs are still here. And yes, Burna Boy hasn’t gone anywhere. I’m personally happy that he is making the headlines this year. African artists are guys to watch out for in the coming two years.

Newcomers beware, I look at the top 40 songs every two weeks and the reviews are summed up in two sentences. If I reviewed the song in a previous article, I just give the score; you will have to go back to the older posts to see what I thought about the song. Good? Here are the top 40 songs Kenya – 27th August 2019.

#40 Megan Thee Stallion feat Nicki Minaj & Ty Dolla $ign – Hot Girl Summer: This song apparently won a VMA award when it just came out the other day. Is it me or do these award shows lose their credibility when they just give awards to random songs? 7.5/10

#37 Lil Tecca – Ransom: 7/10

#28 Joeboy – Beginning: A couple of guys recommended this song to me and I don’t get the hype. I’m not really into his music but it’s not a bad song. 7/10

This might trigger some people but sorry for not being sorry. Joeboy isn’t one of my favorite artists. Y’all have your reasons for liking him but I have none.

#27 Burna Boy – Omo: 7/10

#26 Burna Boy – African Giant: 8/10

#25 Burna Boy – Collateral Damage: 7.5/10

#24 Young Thug feat Lil Baby – Bad Bad Bad: Your typical trap song about drip which sees Young Thug sound a lot like Lil Baby. It’s not a bad song but trap music isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. 7.8/10

#23 Shawn Mendes & Camila Cabello – Senorita: 7/10

#22 Rema – Corny: I, unsurprisingly, heard this Nigerian song from a club the other day. So it’s quite easy to see why it’s so high up in the charts. 7.2/10

#20 Harmonize, Burna Boy & Diamond Platnumz – Kainama: 7/10

#9 Young Thug feat Gunna – Hot: This song is just there. Not that great and not that bad either. 6.5/10

You can read my full review of Young Thug’s album here. It’s good but only if you’re really into trap music.

#8 Burna Boy – Gbona: 9/10

#7 Davido & Chris Brown – Blow My Mind: 7/10

#6 Burna Boy feat Jorja Smith – Gum Body: 9.2/10

#4 Burna Boy – On The Low: 8.5/10

#3 Joeboy – Baby: 6/10

#2 Jorja Smith feat Burna Boy – Be Honest: Another collaboration from the two artists and I love it. The African pop beats are amazing, Jorja is amazing and Burna Boy does his role. 9.2/10

#1 Burna Boy – Anybody: 8/10

Burna Boy continues to dominate the charts and seems this will go on up and until December. Let’s wait and see.
