Kiana Ledé – Can I Single Review

Can I just say how I’m enjoying this year’s RnB music? Well, I’m sure most of the songs were produced in 2018 but the fact remains that they are quite good. I think I’ll come up with a list of my favorite RnB songs so far. Anyway, I came across this song, Can I by Kiana Ledé, and I like it. RnB really is in good hands this year.

Overview

Can I is the latest single by Kiana Ledé. She has been putting out EPs since 2015, her latest one being Selfless. It’s quite a shame that I’m actually getting to know her now. The good thing is that I have time to catch up. There is no sign if a new EP or album is in the works so let’s just enjoy the new song for the meantime. I, on the other hand, will revert back to her previous projects.

What I do know is that I like her a lot. It’s weird that I’m saying this after only listening to one song but I do. And no, it’s not the fact that we are practically the same age. This song has made a good first impression.

Lyrical Theme

In the song, Kiana lets us know how she can’t keep her hands to herself when it comes to her former lover. She talks about how lust takes over making her want to see the guy even more.

Lost in lust and feeling lonely

Just a weakness in a moment, lonely

But I’d do it again

What I like most is how she admits that how she feels doesn’t seem right but she’s going to do it anyway.

No, it don’t feel right

But I do, what I gotta do

What I gotta do

The production also helps make the mood of the song more authentic. I like the mid-tempo beats pairing with her gorgeous voice. I’m just stating facts; #NotAdmittingToBeingAStan. Not yet at least.

Verdict

Can I is a great song by Kiana Ledé. The mid-tempo paired with her great voice makes this one of my favorite RnB songs this year. I love it. 8.5/10
