Top 40 Songs in Kenya – 21st May 2019

Top 40 Kenya

Welcome back to the segment that reviews the top 40 most popular songs in Kenya right now. The data is provided by Apple Music. This is the second edition of this segment. If you haven’t read the first one, you can do so here because I’m not going to repeat myself on most songs. Before I begin, I need to address a couple of issues:

  • The playlist changes every day. I just review the songs as it stands on a particular day. This is also true with the US Billboard Hot 100; it changes every day. With that said, it would be pointless for me to leave the link to the playlist because you might not get the songs I reviewed in the same order.
  • Album releases do affect how the chart will be on certain days as you will see in today’s post. There are some instances where all songs in an album take over the chart because everyone seems to have streamed it over the past few days (me included).

(Hi, if you found this page via Google Search Engine, that’s great. But there are newer posts about the top 40 songs so you can go here and check out the other posts. Okay, thanks)

With that said, let’s do this.

#40 Kehlani feat Ty Dolla Sign – Nights Like This: 7/10

#39 Tyler, The Creator – IGOR’S THEME: I am actually working on the full review of his new album. This is one of my favorite songs. 9/10

#38 Billie Eilish – bad guy: 9/10

#37 Post Malone – Wow: 7/10

#36 Tyler, The Creator – I THINK: Another great song from his new album IGOR. You should give it a try. 9/10

#35 J Cole – Middle Child: 8.2/10

#34 Burna Boy – Ye: 7.5/10

#33 benny blanco feat Halsey and Khalid – Eastside: 9/10

#32 DJ Khaled feat Justin Bieber, Chance The Rapper and Quavo – No Brainer: This rehash of I’m The One is in the chart despite it being an old song. It’s only here because of DJ Khaled released his 11th album last weekend. 6/10

#31 Meek Mill feat Drake – Going Bad: 7/10

#30 Khalid – Talk: 9/10

#29 YG feat Tyga and Jon Z – Go Loko: Loko, go read my review of the song. Loko. 7.5/10

#28 Offset feat Cardi B – Clout: 8/10

#27 Stormzy – Vossi Bop: 8/10

#26 Joeboy – Baby: 6/10

#25 DJ Khaled feat Jeezy and Rick Ross – Big Boy Talk: It’s good to hear Jeezy rapping. The song is good but it is short. 7.8/10

#24 DaBaby – Suge: People have been telling me to listen to this song. Yeah, I don’t like it; the beats aren’t that good and I don’t know what he was rapping about. 6/10

#23 DJ Khaled feat Big Sean – Thank You: This is one of the few songs that I liked from the album. A good introspective song. 8/10

#22 DJ Khaled feat Jay Z, Beyoncé, and Future – Top Off: I wish this song didn’t exist. Why does it exist? 6/10

Are you tired of seeing DJ Khaled? Don’t worry, this gif will lighten the mood.

#21 DJ Khaled feat Nas and CeeLo Green – Won’t Take My Soul: An okay song from Nas. The message is relatable but it’s just okay. 7/10

#20 DJ Khaled feat Meek Mill and Lil Baby – Weather the Storm: Another song talking about how far rappers have come and all that. It’s fine. 7/10

#19 Koffee – Toast: 8/10

#18 Rayvanny feat Diamond Platnumz – Tetema: 7/10

#17 DJ Khaled feat Lil Wayne and Gunna – Freak N You: I know some people who love this song because of Lil Wayne. I don’t blame them. 7/10

#16 Dave feat Burna Boy – Location: 7.5/10

#15 Khalid – Better: 6.8/10

#14 Burna Boy – Gbona: 9/10

#13 Wiley, Stefflon Don & Sean Paul feat Idris Elba – Boasty: 8/10

#12 DJ Khaled feat Meek Mill, Lil Baby, J Balvin and Jeremih – You Stay: This song is a mess. One of the weaker songs in the album. 6/10

#11 DJ Khaled feat Travis Scott and Post Malone – Celebrate: I tried liking this song but the autotune is a no for me. I hate auto-tune. 6/10

#10 DJ Khaled feat Buju Banton, Sizzla, Mavado & 070 Shake – Holy Mountain: It’s a good song. I didn’t like it at first but I changed my mind after a couple of listens. 7.8/10

Don’t worry, I’m not done using the gifs. 😂

#9 Tyler, The Creator – EARFQUAKE: At this point, I think Tyler is a contender for album of the year. You can’t deny that he has some good music. 9/10

#8 Lil Nas X feat Billy Ray Cyrus – Old Town Road (Remix): 9.5/10

#7 DJ Khaled feat SZA – Just Us: SZA sings so well in the song but I’m mad they sampled Ms. Jackson. This song isn’t better than the original. 7.5/10

#6 Harmonize feat Burna Boy and Diamond Platnumz – Kainama: 7/10

#5 Ed Sheeran & Justin Bieber – I Don’t Care: I was supposed to do a single review of this song but I really don’t care for this song. It’s meh. 6/10

#4 Burna Boy – On The Low: 8.5/10

#3 DJ Khaled feat Nipsey Hussle and John Legend – Higher: Another song I liked from the album. So sad that Nipsey passed away. 8.5/10

#2: DJ Khaled feat Chris Brown, Lil Wayne and Big Sean – Jealous: I like the beats. Not so sure about the song in general. 7/10

#1 DJ Khaled feat Cardi B and 21 Savage – Wish Wish: I’m so sure I’m the reason this song is number one. I keep playing it over and over again; definitely my favorite song of the album. 8.5/10

So, what did you think of the charts? No Kenyan song this time. Let me know what you thought about DJ Khaled’s new album in the comments below. You can comment with any social media account (Facebook, Instagram or Twitter).
