Here’s the thing, I don’t like rap music from Atlanta commonly known as Trap music. Some actually consider it to be lazy rapping (I disagree with this). The kind of rap I like is the aggressive type which you get from New York natives. So, when I saw A$AP Ferg out a new song called Pups featuring A$AP Rocky, I knew I was going to enjoy it.
Pups is the latest single from A$AP Ferg. He collaborates with his fellow A$AP Mob member, A$AP Rocky. The release, however, doesn’t indicate if there will be an album or a mixtape coming from Ferg or Rocky. All we got is the new song.
What I love about Pups is that it has this 90s feel of rap music. Back then, it was all about who could go hard on the beat which made the hip hop scene quite competitive. A$AP Ferg and A$AP Rocky are two talented rappers and they just body the whole song.
You’ll also love the chemistry the two rappers have and the energy that they bring to the song. They don’t need to prove anything to anyone as they are on another level. No doubt, I enjoyed listening to this song; it’s my kind of rap music.
Pups doesn’t say much other than mentioning how far they have come and how they are living life. Yeah, it’s your typical brag song but it goes hard.
One thing I realize that there is nothing much that separates this song from the songs PnB Rock put out. You might call me out for being biased but notice the delivery from both sub-genres. Trap music is lazy like while New York rap is aggressive. It’s all about the emotion being driven to the song that makes it a worthwhile listen.
A$AP Ferg once again delivers with his new song Pups and the chemistry between him and A$AP Rocky is superb. 8/10.
