Lil Nas X – Old Town Road (Remix) Feat Billy Ray Cyrus Single Review

This song has made me such a happy person this week. First of all, I need to slap myself because Lil Nas X released the song right around the time when Red Dead Redemption 2 came out. Second, it has been on the billboard thanks to Tik Tok memes which I haven’t seen yet. Third, Billy Ray Cyrus released a remix of the song with Lil Nas X and I am once again late to the party.

Let that not distract you from the fact that this is my first Single review in the blog. To be honest, I am hyped for this review. The review basically remains the same as with the album and EP review but it will be briefer than the two. With that said, let’s get into it.

Old Town Road is a country song with a fusion of rap music. I never thought I would see such a combination but here we are. Unfortunately, Billboard took it off the Hot Country Chart citing that it is not country enough. That however didn’t stop the song from topping the Billboard Hot 100. When one door closes, another opens.

As mentioned earlier, this is a combination of country and rap music. You get the country and rap beats, country singing, rapping; all mixed together to give you this song. My take? I love it. I just love it. It’s so catchy. I’ve actually been ignoring this song since my review buddy Keshie added it to my library but now I owe her for this.

Lyrical Theme

If you go and check out the video on YouTube, this song was made to complement the sound and feel of Red Dead Redemption 2. It actually fits so well. Plus, it’s a fun song which means he wasn’t trying to send out a message or anything; he’s just riding on his horse.

I can’t stop listening to this song. There is a chance that I might listen to it again. Maybe not. I have a nasty feeling this will be the most streamed song of the year. It’s so good. 9.5/10
